‘Watton Wharf Picnic area, Brecon

Working with Jon Dixon of www.anglezarke-dixon.co.uk and Sarah Douglas of Red Kite Environment Ltd and British Waterways we created a new interpretation / picnic area by the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal at Watton Wharf on the outskirts of Brecon.

Robert worked with the 2nd Brecon Brownies alongside members of the theatre group ‘Chance Encounters’ to create imagery relating to the life and times of the Hay Railway.




Robert then drew up designs based on using carved Oak railway sleepers as the main material for construction.




The Oak Railway Sleepers arrived




And carving commenced…







‘flat-packed’ for delivery and put together on site
